Medication-Assisted Treatment

What is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)?

MAT is the use of FDA-approved medications for alcohol and opioid use disorder in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.

Where is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) available?

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) are community-based health care clinics that receive funds from the HRSA Health Center Program to provide primary and preventative medical services, as well as dental, behavioral, and vision services, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.
